In efforts to be active participants in our community, promote team building, and support a great cause; Overhead Door Company of Washington, DC™ took part in Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Bethesda Great Strides 5K on May 6th, 2015. Great Strides is Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event. Team Overhead Door™ walked along the beautiful Crescent Trail in Bethesda, MD with hundreds of other participants. Cystic fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States. Team Overhead Door is proud to be able to help support cystic fibrosis research and drug development in hopes to finding a cure. The Bethesda walk raised over $400,000!
The race started at Bethesda Row where a live band and local vendors were setup. Team Overhead Door™ helped pass out Great Strides t-shirts from the Garage Door Repair truck to all eager striders! The forecast had called for thunderstorms all day, and it wasn’t until the announcer yelled “Ready, Set, Go!” that a torrential downpour started! That didn’t stop the Bethesda Striders though, we were ready to walk rain or shine! We followed signs along Crescent Trail and read inspiring quotes from patients suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. The rain eventually stopped and opened up to a beautiful blue sky. After the walk, we all gathered back at Bethesda Row and enjoyed local food samples, music, and games. Overall, it was a wonderful evening supporting a fabulous cause alongside with friends, family, co-workers!
